De Leeskring is a door-to-door distributor of a weekly leisure reading portfolio of magazines. De Leeskring has some 22.000 subscription holders. The shareholders did not have a suitable successor in place and wanted to retire from the business.
Although it is common practice in the industry to realize asset deals, Independent Capital Partners were able to structure the transaction into a share transaction, which was also most preferred to the shareholders of De Leeskring.
Leesland is the biggest distributor of leisure reading portfolio’s in the Netherlands. By acquiring De Leeskring, Leesland obtained 1/6st of the market in the Netherlands.
Leesland is able to optimize their and De Leeskring’s portfolio and is able to create considerable economies of scale.
